the Critics From Library Journal Popular speaker Boone has been instrumental in the formation of the Christian men's movement called PromiseKeepers. In a series of short sermons, Boone proclaims here that contemporary society is suffering from a variety of family and social ills because Christian men have lost sight of the meaning of servanthood. Thus, Boone encourages men to renew their commitment to being servants to their wives and families in the same way that Jesus was a servant to his God. Unfortunately, his book is filled with simplistic sloganeering such as "Even as man is the promise keeper, so the wife is the promise reaper," reducing deep faith to cheap formulas. Not recommended. |
